Strip Cut vs Cross Cut Shredders:
Strip Cut Paper Shredders cut
paper in thin narrow strips that are as long as the document. This type of
shredding does not provide the security of cross cut shredders, but are comparatively
less expensive and low maintenance. Strip cut shredders require
less maintenance and can shred documents faster than comparable cross cut models.
Most strip shredders are also capable of shredding credit cards, floppy
disks and CDs.
Cross Cut Paper Shredders cut
documents in two directions producing small particles that provide enhanced
security. Cross cut is an ideal method for destroying confidential
material like bank statements, credit cards, financial documents, etc. Also,
known as confetti shredders, they also reduce the need for frequent shredder
bag changes. Since crosscut shredders utilize 2 shredder blades, they need
to be oiled frequently, please check our shredder oiling guide for more details.
Important considerations when choosing a paper shredder:
- How many sheets do you need to shred per day?
- How confidential is your data?
- What type of data needs to be destroyed? Paper? Cd's? Credit Cards?
- How many people will be using the shredders?
- What is your budget?

3 months when you can have a dependable shredder that lasts years? We offer a
wide range personal, office, commercial and high security shredders that are more
powerful and reliable than shredders purchased at office super stores. More importantly,

Personal / Home Office: Also known
as deskside shredders, these light volume shredders are meant
for applications where documents need to be shredded intermittently. Most of these
shredders are designed to fit under a desk and are excellent for personal
or home office use. Some of these personal shredders feature cabinets
that also function as convenient waste paper bins.
Light Duty / Medium Volume: These
shredders are designed for continuous duty shredding and can be shared
between multiple users. They are suitable for medium duty
applications where documents need to be shred more often or where 9 or more
sheets need to be shredded in a short space of time. Mid-size shredders
make an excellent choice for maintaining office wide security.
Heavy Duty / Centralized: These
Departmental shredders are designed for applications involving
round the clock shredding of continuous forms, CD media, and folders of paper.
Featuring heavy duty cutting units and high shredding capacities
make these units suitable as centralized shredders for the
entire office or department. Besides large waste capacities, some
of these heavy duty shreddersalso come equipped with auto reverse,
and racks for EDP or contunious computer forms.
Hopper Shredders: offer a convenient
solution for shredding crumpled paper in high volumes. These units are a step
between heavy duty office and industrial shredders,
and feature a hopper bin on the top of cabinet . They are designed to accept
baskets of 'crumpled paper', most models feature a separate slot for stacks
or single sheets of paper. Please Note: Hopper shredders are engineered to shred
paper matter only.
High Security Shredders level 5: are
an advanced form of cross cut shredders designed to meet extreme security
demands by producing particles around 1/32 in x 7/16 in. These shredders are ideal for applications
where the sensitivity of the data requires a particularly small shred size.
These units are built of paper only and require frequent oiling. (Please note
- these shredders do not meet the current NSA/CSS Spec 02-01 Standard for
high security document destruction)
High Security NSA/CSS Shredders 02-01:(DOD Shredders):
are built to meet the NSA / CSS Specification 02-01 Standard,
or Level 6, the highest security level for document
destruction. Approved for Top-Secret level government use, including D.O.D.
and N.S.A., to protect our National Security. This new standard
is a requirement for all top secret / top level shredding applications
at military, government agencies and defense contractors. These units are designed
to shred documents to a particle size equal or smaller than 1mm x 4mm.
Like the level 5 high security paper shredders, these units
are made for paper only and require frequent oiling. As an added convenience
most units feature an optional automatic oiler (strongly recommended).
These shredders are also known as level 6 shredders or DOD Shredders. Strongly
recommended for all divisions of military, government agencies and defense
contractors.

FACTA : Are You In Compliance?
Are your electronic and paper documents containing
personal information rendered unreadable prior to disposal?
What is in your dumpter? Is it a treasure chest for identity thieves
and for consumer action attorneys ready to sue you for
placing their clients in jeopardy?
As of June 1, 2005 The FTC’S latest FACTA rule requires any BUSINESS
or INDIVIDUAL “that
maintains or otherwise possesses consumer information, or any compilation of
consumer information, derived from consumer reports for a business purpose to “properly
dispose of such information or compilation.”
FTC approves of businesses disposing of their paper records by using a paper shredder.
Both FACTA and the new rule are supposed to cut down on the incidences of identity theft by, among other methods, restricting the ability of thieves to go “dumpster diving” for valuable consumer information contained in discarded business records.
This rule was issued by the FTC as part of its jurisdiction under the FAIR AND ACCURATE CREDIT TRANSACTIONS ACT (FACTA).
