Do I need a money counter and counterfeit detector?

Depending on the situation, you may only need one or the other. When doing a small number of transactions involving primarily large bills, you may be fine with just a counterfeit detector. A large number of transactions with a mixture of large and small bills is an ideal situation for money counters with counterfeit detection features. Generally, if you are not sure if you will need both a counter and counterfeit detector, it is best to go with a combination.

What types of counterfeit detection are available?

A variety of machines are available to detect counterfeit currency including, ultraviolet, magnetic, and watermark detections. There are counting machines that have counterfeit detection capabilities as well. Ultraviolet detection machines use light to detect the difference between legitimate bills and counterfeit bills, real bills appear dull under the light, but counterfeits appear bright usually because of the presence of bleach in the paper. Magnetic counterfeit detectors work by ensuring the presence of the magnetic component within a bill. If the machine does not detect the magnetic component, a light or alarm will be triggered to tell you the bill is counterfeit. Watermark detections are similar to ultraviolet detection, but more specific. During the paper making process, each bill is assigned a specific watermark which can be detected under a light with a detection device.

Counterfeit detection machines give instant verification of credit cards, fake bills, travelers checks and other forms of currency. What do money counters do?

Money counters increase accuracy and save time by counting large amounts of bills quickly. Cash counting machines count bills one by one to eliminate manual errors. Currency counters are capable of counting, adding, sorting and some even detect counterfeit bills. If you’re doing a small amount of counting in only one type of bill, a basic currency counter is sufficient. However, in circumstances where large amounts of different bills are being counted, more advanced counting machines may be necessary. These advanced counters are capable of counting different types of bills as well as detecting counterfeit copies.

Which safe is right for me?

First of all, consider the type of material you will be protecting in your safe. Most safes are designed to protect a particular type of material such as: documents, media files, firearms, money and valuables.
Next, think about where you would like your safe to be located and how you will be using it; in-floor, in-wall, depository, or gun safes are available.
Safes come in a variety of locking systems including: key lock, biometric, keypad, and electronic. Key and electronic locks are best in situations where there will be more than one user. Electronic locks can be programmed with more than combination for tracking multiple users.
Finally, think about the necessary protection your safe needs to have. There are safes made to protect against water, fire, dust, impact resistance, and other environmental elements. Check the fire, water, and impact rating on the safe to make sure it meets your standards.
