WIRE BINDING MACHINES
Wire binders (also known as double loop binding machines) come in various types.
Most wire binding machines are manually operated and their capacities range
from binding 46 pages to almost 250 pages. Wire diameter is an important factor
to be considered while selecting the wire binder. A higher wire diameter means
higher capacity. Each wire binding machine is designed to bind either one of
the below wire types:
3:1 Wire - With this wire, the paper is punched 3 holes per inch, which
is 32 holes per standard 11" sheet size. It is available in sizes ranging from
3/16" up to 9/16" in diameter. It has the best appearance of all double loop
wire and is recommended for documents up to 125 sheets (20lb paper) thick.
2:1 Wire - Pages are punched with 2 holes per inch or 21 holes per
standard 11" sheet size. 2:1 wire is used for binding books that are too large
for 3:1 wire and is available in sizes ranging from 5/8" to 1". The wire is
more durable and sturdy than 3:1 wire. Recommended for documents 140 to 250
sheets thick (20lb paper).
We do however offer the a machine that can punch and bind
both wire types. See Akiles WireMac Duo.

TWIN
LOOP WIRE BINDING Providing a sleek, professional look to reports,
presentations, financial statements, manuals, catalogs and more. Documents will
lie flat and pages can fold back 360. Punch the pages, lay them into the wire
element and pull the handle to close the wire. Twin loop wire binding comes in
3:1 & 2:1
pitch. 3:1 pitch is a 32-hole punch pattern using smaller wires, 1/4 thru 9/16
in. 2:1 pitch is a 21-hole punch pattern using larger wires, 5/8 thru 1 1/4 in.
Machines can be purchased as either a binding
system the punch and wire closer as one machine, or as two separate machines,
a punch and wire
closer. A binding
system is for low to mid volume use in offices, print shops, schools, churches,
etc. A punch and wire
closer as separate machines allows for greater punch capacity and increased
production for larger jobs.
Each twin loop wire element diameter binds a maximum number of pages and is purchased
based on the size of the document to be bound.
HEAVY
DUTY PUNCHES - Purchasing a punch and a closer/opener/inserter
as separate machines allows for greater punch capacity per lift and increased
production for larger jobs, as one person can punch while another binds. Additionally,
on some punches the dies are interchangeable. That is, the die set for punching
one type of hole can be removed and the die for a different binding method (wire,
plastic coil, plastic comb, etc) can be inserted.
OPENERS - CLOSERS - INSERTERS Whether
you're looking to increase production by separating the binding from the punching
step or wanting to extend the use of your current machine by adding another binder,
you'll find all comb
openers, wire
closers and coil
inserters here.
